HP TouchPad

The presentation of the expected tablet HP TouchPad was the highlight of the event "Think Beyond" with which the U.S. PC vendor Palm has unveiled the first post-acquisition devices, anticipating a few days the crowd of ads for the MWC 2011 in Barcelona. Event co-star Palm smartphones and Palm Pre Veer 3.

HP Touchpad is a tablet in size from 9.7 inches diagonally (by approximation we can speak of a tablet 10 ") screen resolution XGA 1024x768pixel and capacitive technology to multiple points of contact (multitouch). The diagonal and the resolution of dell'iPad display are the same for Apple, with the result that the size of the two tablets are very similar.

The hardware is centered around the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform version of dual-CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz The two ARM processors are able to support fully and efficiently multitasking user experience that rivals that of the common PC.

'S integrated graphics accelerator can play , even if we do not know with what framerate and with what level of detail. HP showed a demo of the game and Armageddon Squadron II know that there is a version of Angry Birds for WebOS. Staying on the theme of digital entertainment, certainly the most interesting feature is the presence of a video decoding engine compatible with MPEG4 and H.264. It means that the HP tablet is capable of playing HD movies , maybe enjoying the sound from the speakers signed Beats Audio.

The operating system is WebOS , developed by Palm, who first landed on a screen wider than that of mobile phones. Among the most popular features of this OS is the virtual keyboard that can be resized at will, and the desk , consisting of a bar that contains the status icons, a dock menu icons and a central area where applications are displayed in the form of cards (card) which can be grouped and classified by the user or automatically.

From the information gathered by fellow Americans, we learn that HP TouchPad initially will be distributed only in the version with WiFi connectivity , the model will come equipped with 3G modem later in 2011. Even without mobile broadband connectivity, however, HP will manage calls and SMS Touchpad hooking onto the Palm smartphone.

HP TouchPad between smartphone and Palm is a perfect symbiosis in fact favored by the latest generation of technology Touchstone : SMS can be read and accept calls directly from the tablet, you can exchange links by touching the two devices (so-called "tap"), and more.

Many sensors available, useful for saving power, for better and more intuitive to use or play: ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass , the TouchPad has nothing to envy to the best-stocked tablet Android. Will also feature an A-GPS receiver, but only on the TouchPad 3G, the reason one can easily imagine when one considers that already combines Qualcomm 3G modem and GPS receiver on his muduli Gobi.

In the presentation made himself a quick mention of accessories , including highlight HP Touchstone a stand or music stand that is able to feed over the air (wireless charger) TouchPad: just place the tablet on the stand to recharge!
